Youth Ministry For Your Hobbies

By Elizabeth Paxton

When it comes to ministering to the youth of today, they need more than just chat. This means just about any hobby you have can be turned into a chance to enjoy the company of children and young adults. You hobby can be a way of youth ministry.

Take gardening for instance, getting children into growing things is a great way to show God's miracles everyday. They not only learn about gardening, but they also get to learn about weeding and caring for a garden. And don't forget, enjoying the results of a garden well tended.

Any hobby can be turned into an opportunity to learn not only God's word, but His meaning through His words. Maybe someone with a construction background can teach the kids that a good paint job in only a good paint job, and that its the foundation that really matters.

While working with a ministry and volunteering your skills it's inevitable that you'll be in contact with kids. Take the opportunity whether it's cooking in the kitchen, helping with landscaping, or seeking donations for a good cause to put it into a learning opportunity for the kids.

Kids can hear many different words these days about what to do and how to do it. Teach them that doing is the best part of learning, and the results you feel deep down is a job well done. You can teach the kids this lesson in any way whether its your hobby or what you do for a living.

Volunteer for Youth ministry. You can volunteer both your words and your skills. The results will give you a feel good feeling deep inside as well.
