Making The Most From Church Websites

By Shannon Behan

Church websites can be of a great benefit to a church. They can be used to pass information along to current members as well as to inform potential visitors about their services. Many people use the internet and having a website for your church can be a great way to get in touch with everyone at one time.

You website will want to include basic information about your church. You will want to have service times, as well as the address listed. You may also want to list phone numbers and names of people along with their descriptions in the church for people to contact with further questions.

You can also list some of the beliefs that your group follows. The core beliefs are what most people will want to read about if they have never attended services at your place of worship. You can also list how your religion differs from those that are similar to yours as well.

If you have any special activities that you offer you will want to include them as well. Many times parents will be interested in programs that pertain to children. If you offer a nursery during services you will want to make that known as well.

If there are upcoming activities that are special events, you may want to create a calender to list them on. Having a calender of events will help remind current members of the events, as well as create a interest in those who may be interested in coming to visit. Also listing contact phone numbers is important as well.

If your group participates in community outreach programs you may also wish to list them as well. Many programs such as food baskets and help with utilities are offered by local churches. If you list that you have these services available to those in need, people will know that they have a resource if the need should arise.
