Have you been promising yourself to get in shape then you must debating on the types of exercises that would be suitable for you. If you want to pack an intense workout in a short amount of time then what you are looking for are heavy punching bags. They are inexpensive but never the less extremely useful equipment. They are characterized by the fact that it takes very little space but successfully targets the larger muscle groups.

Punching is one of those exercises that is well suited for almost any goal. Whether you want to burn some calories or want to increase strength, punching exercises gives you the intensity that makes legends like Mohammad Ali. Needless to say, such form of exercising is going to be very useful if you take part in boxing or mixed martial arts. It builds your core strength and reflexes and hones your fighting movement and style at the same time. Assembling the entire setting requires nothing but a punching bag and a sturdy beam or stand.

Youngsters and beginners are advised to start with a lighter bag as it prevents injury and in the long run is beneficiary for your purposes. Bags in the neighborhood of 25-60 lbs move a lot more and fast and thus it builds your reflexes. It goes a long way in improving your footwork and makes you a lot more agile.

After some experience, the heavier bags are going to take your strength and skills to another level. Heavy bags come at about 100 lbs and are for people who are 170 lbs or more. The interior of these bags consist of anything starting from water to Styrofoam.

The material to be used depends on you. Leather does feel more comfortable but it is more expensive compared to old fashioned canvas or vinyl. Heavy punching bags can be delivered to your home ready made or you may have to assemble them. Either way the use ofheavy punching bag is not something that you will regret. Do you ever workout alone, if you do you should check out a grappling dummy, it is what I use.
